The AW19 Trends You Need to Know
It’s that time of year again, a new wave of trends is set to flood the fashion world in time for Autumn/Winter 2019 and we have rounded up a few of our favourites to get you excited for what’s to come! With a few new brands to introduce to the Stanwells family this season there’s more choice than ever, so don’t be afraid to try something new or mix and match…
Camel & Caramel Tones
New to Stanwells for AW19 - Vince
Who doesn’t love a neutral colour palette in Autumn? Perfect for those in-between season looks, camel and caramel tones are once again filling the Autumn/Winter collections. Work this trend into your own wardrobe with some staple pieces in neutral shades, such as chunky knit sweaters, textured belts, wool coats or leather handbags. If you’re feeling brave why not go for head to toe neutrals for a chic and sophisticated workwear, casual or evening look. In our opinion, you can’t beat a cosy camel knit paired with some straight leg jeans and fresh white sneakers for an effortlessly cool weekend look.
Metallics
IRO - AW19 collection in the Paris showroom
Sparkle is for life not just for Christmas! Get ready to incorporate metallics into your everyday looks next season, from subtle golden accessories to full-on shimmering dresses. Keep your eyes peeled for new metallic arrivals from Jerome Dreyfuss, Golden Goose and IRO and fill your wardrobe with key pieces perfect for mixing and matching with more neutral tones and your denim jeans.
Animal Print
Hayley Menzies AW19 - Abstract Animal Print
Animal print is as bold as ever and here to stay next season, with leopard print accessories from Jerome Dreyfuss and Sam Edelman and panther tunics from Dea Kudibal. As seen across the runways for AW19 combining multiple prints is the fashion-forward way to style this trend, although mixing prints with neutral shades will give everyday outfits a more subtle touch. For a more abstract take on this trend, why not dip into Hayley Menzies fantastical world of animal prints to mix and match for different occasions.
Colour Crush
Golden Goose AW19 collection in the Paris showroom
Break the mould this Autumn and swap your classic navy & practical black for bold, vibrant hues for a splash of saturated colour. With bright chunky knits from Chinti & Parker, funky power suits from Smythe and hot pink knits by Duffy there’s something for everyone whatever the occasion. Be brave and combine different shades of the same colour for a completely tonal look in all the colours of the rainbow.
Cowboy Chic
Golden Goose AW19 collection
Add a hint of the Wild West to your look this season with chunky leather belts, cowboy boots and a neutral colour palette of camel and tan. A truly timeless trend that appears season after season, cowboy chic is one of the easiest looks to incorporate into your wardrobe with some clever accessorising. We can't wait to get our hands on the classic cowboy boots in the Golden Goose AW19 collection and style them with everything from midi dresses to jeans and a chunky sweater. To finish your look off just add a luxurious leather belt by Anderson's and a Jerome Dreyfuss handbag.

Get ahead of the trends with the Stanwells guide to AW18 dressing; from bold prints to sumptuous textures and chunky footwear, we’re here to help you curate your coolest outfits yet. Why not try pairing casual trainers with a structured blazer for a modern take on daytime dressing or perhaps mix a bold print with tonal accents for a chic co-ordinated look.
Here’s our round-up of the hottest trends for AW18 and how to wear them…
Animal Print
A timeless classic, animal prints feature heavily in our AW18 collections from traditional animal skins from Jerome Dreyfuss to fantastical animal illustrations from Emma Shipley. It’s important to use animal print in moderation and we think it works best used as an accent to your outfit through accessories and outerwear. Combine bold leopard prints with denim, black and oatmeal to tone your look down or add a bright splash of colour to your outfit with a wildlife print scarf. Here’s how we would style our current animal print favourites:
Jerome Dreyfuss Remi Bag | Jumper 1234 Balloon Sleeve Sweater | Citizens of Humanity Elsa Jeans
Emma Shipley Frith Silk Chiffon Scarf | Smythe Portrait Neck Blazer | Parker Smith Step Hem Straight Jeans
Chunky Trainers
Dress like an Instagram Fashionista this Autumn and add some chunky trainers to your wardrobe. Perfect for adding some extra height and cool-girl style to your daytime look, pair your trainers with everything from jeans to joggers or add an edge to your dresses and smart tailoring. Take a look at how we’d wear them this season for some outfit inspiration:
Maison Labiche Bonjour Paris Sweater | AG Jeans Jodi Crop Flares | Ash Addict Trainers
Boutique Moschino Silk Front Cardi | Sportmax Giava Trousers | Crime Dynamic Trainers
Stylish Slogans
Slogans are here to stay and our AW18 offerings subtly play on the logo-mania trend, from small embroidered phrases to bold, vibrant logos. Make your outfit social media worthy by pairing your chic slogan prints with anything from feminine pastel gilets and laid-back joggers to a tailored jacket and jeans. Here are our favourite slogan pairings at the moment:
Maison Labiche Oh La La Tee | Smythe Duchess Blazer | Parker Smith Courtney Crop Jeans
Parajumpers Dodi Gilet | Chinti & Parker Cropped Lounge Pants

SS18 Trends: The Looks to Look For
Spring is so close we could almost reach out and touch it, but is your wardrobe ready? This year’s SS18 catwalks were packed with so many stunning trends that it’s almost impossible to sum them all up, so we won’t try. Instead we have picked out some of our favourite SS18 trends to share with you, so you can get your wardrobe ready for the season ahead.
Here are the top looks to look for in SS18:
While those soft ice cream sundae pastels may not be a groundbreaking trend for spring time, there’s no denying they’re special. The SS18 catwalks were seriously pastel-pretty; Victoria Beckham showed head-to-toe violet, Hermés styled lemon sorbet suits, Tom Ford went pastel pink and we even got a sprinkle of pistachio green from the Sies Marjan collection. The best thing about pastels is that they’re so easy to style for spring, and you can layer several shades together for the ultimate on-trend effect.

The mac is back and it’s more fabulous than ever. The classic trench coat has been seeing a lot of catwalk action and has rocketed into the upper echelons of every SS18 trends list. So much more than just an outerwear necessity, the trench coat has been transformed into a style sensation by the big fashion houses, with embroidery, chopped-up lines and bright colours galore. A well-styled trench coat can become an outfit all on its own, especially when paired with chunky high heeled boots for a leggy, streamlined effect.
If you love a good trench but you’re more of a traditionalist, there’s a great middle ground option: boutique designer trench coats. Our latest season collection features some fabulous classic trench designs with traditional lines and elegant colours that let you rock this spring trend without the catwalk price tag.

Sports-inspired fashion design is yet to tire, and this year’s SS18 catwalks have been teaming with athletic looks. Most notable was the Marc Jacobs collection, which combined luxury leather with retro sports styles reminiscent of brightly-coloured 80s. High top sneakers, bum bags, joggers, shell suits and sweaters are all well and truly back in fashion, and it’s one of the most enjoyable looks to wear.
Athletic looks are great for transitioning from spring to summer, with so many lightweight layering options to choose from. And we’ve got great news, you can find a great selection of retro sport styles right here at Stanwells. Shop the trend:

Spring fashion for women usually involves a pair of shorts or two, but SS18 trends are not showing just the traditional super short shorts of yesteryear. Instead the catwalks have been filled with the returning safari shorts, preppy shorts, gym shorts and even cycling shorts. So forget the mini skirts and dresses, it looks like you’ll be spending spring and summer in your shorts this year, which is great news if you’re a fan of the casual end of the wardrobe spectrum.

The polished, dark denim of circa 2000 fashion is back, with the likes of Tom Ford, Nina Ricci and Versus Versace showing a variety of outfits styled in this long absent denim shade. After quite the hiatus, the catwalks are welcoming this unexpected return and the trend is spreading like wildfire. So easy to wear for all of your off-duty looks, dark denim can be mixed and matched with practically anything, and it’s even acceptable to double-denim the look.
However you want to style it, you can find a variety of dark denim jean styles right here at Stanwells, so you can kick off your season with one of the easiest-to-style SS18 trends.
