Penelope Chilvers designs combine a modern, fashionable edge with lasting style. Her pieces are timeless, and are made to last. And her designs are the perfect accompaniment to this season’s trends; luxurious fabrics mixed and matched with classic denim leather to die for!

Penelope Chilvers trained as an artist at the Byam Shaw School of Art in London and won a scholarship to complete an MA at a University in Madrid.

Whilst riding with friends in Spain, she wore a pair of traditional Spanish riding boots and recognised their potential to be worn not only on horseback, but also as a fashion boot – and so the staple of the Penelope Chilvars collection was born!

Penelope Chilvers continued to pursue the idea of bringing the Spanish Riding boot to England as a fashion boot. So she unearthed a small number of traditional artisans in the hills of Spain and commissioned them to make the perfect equestrian fashion boot, to her own specifications. The collection has since grown to include beautifully intricate and detailed bags, colourful hand made clogs, leather espadrilles and sandals.

Penelope Chivers’ concept is ‘LEATHER FOREVER’. Embracing fashion but not conforming to the idea of the throwaway wardrobe, Penelope Chilvers’ designs accessories to fall in love – and to stay in love with.

Penelope Chilvers boots are made using 100% natural materials of the highest quality – and her shoeboxes are handmade, hand printed, and she endeavours to keep all her packaging poly bag free and bio-degradable. This makes Penelope Chilver the ethical fashion brand of choice for many ethical consumers.

Penelope’s ethos is to work ethically and closely with the artisans and manufacturers in Spain. She insists that traditional techniques in leather are nurtured and continue to inspire - and when it comes to leather, she likes to enhance the natural texture and imperfections - nothing is uniform - each piece is unique and only improves with age!"

Autumn/winter 2010 brings the return of the Penelope Chilvers classic clog in chocolate ponyskin . The popular equestrian inspired long tassle boot in conker leather also returns ,plus a shorter version in slate leather with an 'on trend' sheepkin top.

Late autumn sees the arrival of the eskimo inspired white snow boots with fun red laces , just in time for the slopes...
